Jimmy BARNES

Beech Grove, TN resident and Georgia native Jimmy Barnes, age 72, was born November 7, 1936 and died November 30, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A self-employed brick mason and member of Eastside Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Issic and Gladys Mathis Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Jane Brown Barnes and Shirley Macafee Barnes and sixteen brothers and sisters. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Marie Tatum of Georgia, Gwendolyn Sue and Kenneth Wright of McMinnville, Sherry and Danny Brown of Beech Grove, TN and Jimmie Lou and Terry Weaver of Manchester, TN; two sons, Jimmy James Barnes and George Stephen Barnes both of Georgia; two step-daughters, Debra Brown and Sandy Brown both of Georgia; three brothers, Robert, Curtis and Horace Barnes; four sisters, Lilly Mae, Barbara, Eileen and Maybelle; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in High's Chapel with Jim Hunt officiating.
