Charles Mabry BROWN

June 4, 1902 — April 9, 2008

Viola, TN resident and Ladonia, TX native Charles Mabry Brown, age 105, was born June 4, 1902 and died April 9, 2008 at Manchester Medical Center in Manchester, TN. A farmer and mule/cattle trader, he was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church, University of Tennessee Alumni Association, United Methodist Laymen's Club and served as president of Grundy County Farm Bureau. He was the son of the late Andrew and Martha Mabry Brown and was a third generation heir of the late William Biles. He was married to Jessie Stubblefield Brown who preceded him in death December 15, 1986. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles M. Brown, Jr.; one brother and one sister. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Krickel of Viola, TN. three grandchildren and their spouses, Johnny and Bonnie Krickel of Conyers, GA, Martha and Mike Gibbs of Ranburne, AL and Charles Edward Krickel of Viola, TN and nine great-grandchildren and their spouses, Charles Krickel, Jr. and Courtney Krickel both of Viola, TN; William Mabry Gibbs of Carrolton, GA, Jessie and Shane Gardner of Guyton, GA, Lindsey and Jake Holloway of Bowdon, GA, Jeremy Krickel of Chicago, IL, Kristi and Jason Hale of Honolulu, HI and Sarah and Rachel Gibbs of Ranburne, AL. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008 in High's Chapel with Bob Case and Bill Ramsey officiating. Burial followed in the Viola Cemetery.
