Bessie P. CATEN

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Bessie P. Caten, age 72, was born August 14, 1935 and died May 2, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late George and Levina Hale Johnson. She was married to William Lloyd Caten who preceded her in death in October of 1979. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death one brother, Coney Lee Tribble. She was a loving mother who cared deeply about her family and loved her friends. She never complained about anything, and always thought of others. She enjoyed working in the yard, collecting frogs and spending time with family. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda M. and Timothy Elkins of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Brenda Johnson of McMinnville; sisters, Stella Caten and Kay Beech both of McMinnville; special cousin, Reba McFarland of Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in High's Chapel with George Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
