Billy Reece CATHEY

Morrison, TN resident and Coffee County, TN native Billy Reece Cathey, age 76, was born July 24, 1932 and died October 13, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. A farmer and retired forklift operator with Carrier, he was the son of the late Samuel Wade and Mattie Lou Harrell Cathey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Cathey and brother, J.N. Cathey. He was married to Margaret Miller Cathey of Morrison, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Mary Lou and Jan Davidson and Gregory Reece and Toni Cathey both of Morrison, TN and Jeffery B. and Blenda Cathey of Chattanooga, TN; five grandchildren, Alex and Eric Davidson and Justin and Judith Cathey all of Morrison, TN and Matthew Bennett of Unicoi, TN; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel Wade "Buddy" Cathey, Jr. of Beech Grove, TN, Marshall Leon and Emma Cathey, Jerry and Dorothy Cathey and Donald and Martha Cathey all of McMinnville and Richard and Elaine Cathey of Woodbury, TN; sister, Dorothy Hollis of Bowling Green, KY; sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Cathey of McMinnville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Karen Miller, Joseph E. and Jean Miller, Frank and Barbara Miller and Delbert Nettleton all of Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 in High's Chapel with Chris Sparkman officiating. Burial followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Coffee County, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
