JR., James Monroe Sonny DAVENPORT

McMinnville resident and Warren County native James Monroe "Sonny" Davenport, Jr., age 66, was born September 9, 1941 and died July 18, 2008. He was the retired superintendent of Middle Tennessee Natural Gas and the son of the late James Monroe and Willie Frances Elrod Davenport, Sr. He was married December 19, 1964 to Velma Pearl Jones Davenport who preceded him in death April 12, 2007. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Jason Mellons of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan Davenport of Columbia, TN; three grandchildren, Alex and Mary Davenport both of Columbia, TN and Ryan Mellons of McMinnville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Walter M. Bishop of McMinnville, Joann and Earl Dove of Rock Island, TN, Lucille and Don Hayes of McMinnville and Faye and Joe Bryan Glenn of Madison, AL; aunt, Agnes Rigsby of Morrison, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dudley and Sheryl Jones of Jacksonville, FL and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 in High's Chapel with Harry Green officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
