McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native Geneva Ruth Elrod, age 71, was born April 21, 1937 and died November 1, 2008 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness. A seamstress and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey Lee and Irma Pauline Parker Jernigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Parker and Michael Parker; brothers, Aubrey Lamont, Charles Edwin, Harold David and Thurman Lee Jernigan and sister, Shirley Marlene Lytle. She is survived by two sons, Ricky Parker of Murfreesboro, TN and James H. Turner, Jr. of Rock Island, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and James Koons of McMinnville; five grandchildren, April McGee, Jennifer Parker, Chantell Koons, Mikha Piper and Brad Parker; five great-grandchildren, Tyler McClure, Cody McGee, Caleb Willeby, Andrew Willeby and Tanner Piper; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Louise Jernigan of McMinnville and Jerry and Mary Jernigan of Viola, TN; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Melanie Johnson and many other friends. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 in High's Chapel with Bobby Newby officiating. Burial followed in the Asbury Cemetery in Coffee County, TN.
