Dewey Brown GAY

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Dewey Brown Gay, age 74, was born August 26, 1934 and died December 16, 2008 at his residence following a brief illness. A retired insurance agent with State Farm, a United States Army veteran and a member of the Westwood Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, he was the son of the late Glennie and Pauline Sauls Gay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Ernest Gay. He was married April 20, 1962 to Dean Griffith Gay of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and fiancée, Dewey Michael Gay and Karen Tobin of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Robert Gray of Las Vegas, NV and Elena Gray of Youngstown, OH; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Bobby Mullican of McMinnville, Marie and Bobby Fred Ramsey of Brentwood, TN, Peggy and Lannie Goodwin of Murfreesboro, TN and Yalta and Vernice Dunlap of Rock Island, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Melba Griffith of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008 at Central Church of Christ with Coy Hathcock officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
