McMinnville resident and Warren County native Mary Frances Rowland Hale, age 98, was born August 5, 1909 and died May 8, 2008 at her residence following a lingering illness. A homemaker and member of Christ United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star McMinnville Chapter #349, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Delia Cantrell Rowland. She was married in January of 1928 to Leon Hale who preceded her in death in 1961. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, J.N. and M.R. Hale; brothers, William, Powell and Tom Rowland; sister, Louise Armstrong; daughter-in-law, Modene Hale and son-in-law, Smithy Kirby. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Brinda Hale and Linda and Malcolm Simpson both of McMinnville, Myrtle Kirby of Cookeville, TN; Peggy and Joe Ward of Manhattan Beach, CA and Nancy and Tom Vickers of Collierville, TN; grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy and Karen Hale of Smithville, TN, David and Brenda Hale, Debbie Hale, Brinda and Allen Buckner and Thomas and Kelly Simpson all of McMinnville, Jeff and Lisa Hale of Valdosta, GA, Jamie Kuhn of California, Kim and Steve Taylor of Manhattan Beach, CA and Jamie Vickers and Melissa Vickers both of Collierville, TN; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Misty Hale of Pulaski, TN, Jennifer and Darrel Cook, Bethany Hale, Sara and Cain Buckner and Kade, Tyler and Tanner Simpson all of McMinnville, Robert Kuhn and Dylan Kuhn both of Action, CA, Chad and Chris Hale of Valdosta, GA and Mary Frances and Jessica Taylor both of Manhattan Beach, CA; great-great-grandchildren, Riley Hale and Aiden Cook; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 in High's Chapel with Mark Carrigan officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.
