M.B. HILLIS

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native M.B. Hillis, age 88, was born October 6, 1919 and died March 1, 2008 following an extended illness. A retired truck driver with the Gulf Oil Company, a retired United States Air Force veteran of twenty years, serving in WWII and a member of East End Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John and Myra Roberts Hillis. He was married March 9, 1946 to Lorena Martin Hillis of McMinnville. In addition to his wife he is survived by, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Bob Young of Rock Island, TN; two grandsons, Chris and Blane Young of Rock Island, TN; four great-grandsons, Logan, Dillon, Colton and Lucas Young all of Rock Island, TN; half-brother, Jerry McCormack of McMinnville, TN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna Curtis, Gladys Walker, Martha Martin, Juanita King, Sam & Gerri Martin and Harold & Claudia Martin all of McMinnville and Jessie & Leon Gillentine of Michigan. Funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 in High's Chapel with Ray Weddington officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
