McMinnville resident and Warren County native Willard Jackson Holland, Sr. age 89, was born May 1, 1918 and died April 27, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN following a brief illness. A retired employee of Rockford Textile, a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Claude and Jewell Walker Holland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mattie Thompson and Jill Byrd and brother, Chester Holland. He was married to Maggie Blanche Whiteaker Holland of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Janice Broyles and her husband Jackie, Wanda Barlow, Kathy Kelley and Willard Holland, Jr. all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annie Burbage and Joyce Whiteaker both of McMinnville and Johnnie Maxwell of Greenbriar, TN; five brothers, George, Ronald and Doris Holland all of McMinnville, Donald Holland of Eagleville, TN and Earl Holland of Lavergne, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 in High's Chapel with Marion Ward and Lee Hennessee officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
