Virginia Ann Cox MCDOWELL

Rock Island, TN resident and Knox County, TN native Virginia Ann Cox McDowell, age 78, was born June 1, 1930 and died June 14, 2008 at her residence following a short illness. A homemaker and member of New Bybee Chapel Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Fuller and Louise Malone Cox. She was married to Tullas McDowell who preceded her in death April 6, 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Steve McDowell. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Allen McDowell of Rock Island, TN; daughter, Alana McGuire of Rock Island, TN; daughter-in-law, Randi McDowell of Georgia; five grandchildren, Candice Zweifel and husband, Joey of the Smartt Station Community, Nathan McDowell and Sean McGuire and wife, Felicia both of McMinnville, Dany McGuire Earls and husband, Mickey of Viola, TN and Robert E. Lee McDowell of Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Dyllon Ryan McGuire Young and Kaci Marie McGuire; three sisters, Vara Lindquist of California, Sue Uhde and husband, John of Georgia and Maurine Allen of Alabama; brother, Reid Cox of Alabama and several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service and inurnment was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at New Bybee Cemetery with Tim Lewis officiating.
