William Olan MCGIBONEY

December 17, 1926 — November 3, 2008

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native William Olan McGiboney, age 81, was born December 17, 1926 and died November 3, 2008 at River Park Hospital following a one-year illness. A retired dairy farmer, a United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the Pine Bluff Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Millie Mae Baker McGiboney. Mr. McGiboney was the 1961 Jaycee's Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, past board member of the Warren Farmer's Co-Op, past member of Tennessee State Board of 4-H Leaders, Superintendent of Pine Bluff Methodist Church, member of the American Jersey Cattle Club and member of American Legion Post 173. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Omar, Orion, Ivora, Clinton, Ather, Katherine, Luther and Sally Mae. He was married September 27, 1952 to Monice Green McGiboney of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Mary Jane McGiboney of Herndon, VA, Joyce and David Britton of Rock Island, TN and Renee and Presley Campbell of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Ann Marie McGiboney Rocha, Bruce Jeffrey McGiboney, Virginia Suzanne McGiboney, Davey Britton and Mac Britton; several nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in High's Chapel with Tim Lewis and Titus Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Asbury Cemetery in Rock Island, TN with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
