Cleveland Braxton MCGUIRE

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Cleveland Braxton McGuire, age 79, was born May 6, 1928 and died March 26, 2008 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A lift operator at Burroughs-Ross-Colville and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the the late Jesse Lee and Nellie Hillis McGuire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Max Elbert, Robert and Ray Cooper McGuire and five sisters, Alice Watson, Maybelle Yates, Betty Jewell McGuire, Martha Jane McGuire and Mattie Warren. He was married July 13, 1949 to Ruth Faulk McGuire of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, John B. and Sandra McGuire, Jane L. and Larry Jones and Linda and Delbert Ray all of McMinnville; grandchildren and their spouses, James A. and Lynn Jones, LaJuana and Lee Baker, and Todd Ray all of McMinnville, Sgt. Sean Patrick and Laura McGuire of El Paso, TX, Kim Ray of Knoxville, TN and Katherine and Mike Vaughn of Cookeville, TN; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jones, LaKaryl Baker, Nathaniel Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Clayton Allen Jones, Zoe Marie McGuire, Giselle McGuire and Abbey Vaughn; sister-in-law, Ruth A. McGuire of Cleveland, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 in High's Chapel with George Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
