Lorene Farmer MORTON

McMinnville resident and Smith County, TN native Lorene Farmer Morton, age 89, was born October 19, 1918 and died June 28, 2008 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of Madison Street Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William and Effie Grisham Farmer. She was married March 4, 1938 to Carl Edgar Morton who preceded her in death October 26, 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Doyle Clark Morton; two sisters, Lucy Wilson and Polly James and two brothers, Frank and Clarence Farmer. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Evelyn R. Cooper, Dickie and Jennifer Morton and Freddie and Diane Morton all of McMinnville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Pam Cooper, Mark Morton, Sheri and Todd Garrett and Clay and Amanda Morton all of McMinnville and Keri and Joel Womack of Rock Island, TN; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ethel O'Bryan of California and Kitty Swindell of Lebanon, TN; brother, Joe Farmer of Lebanon, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in High's Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Faulkner's Cemetery.
