Joe Alton MYERS

McMinnville resident and White County, TN native Joe Alton Myers, age 69, was born May 13, 1938 and died March 30, 2008 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired utility investigator with the Public Service Commission and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Otto McKinley and Elizabeth Elliott Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynville and Gordon Myers. He was married March 14, 1998 to Judye C. Killian Myers of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Geneva Scoggins of McMinnville; three nephews, John Scoggins of Sparta, TN, Danny Scoggins of McMinnville and Justin Bowdoin of Newport News, VA; two nieces, Debbie Shoemake of Lavergne, TN and Heather Clark of Rock Island, TN and great-nieces and great-nephews, Casey Scoggins, Sarah Lohon, Jennifer Oliver, Tyler and Trace Clark, Hunter and David Shoemake and Brittany Owers. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in High's Chapel with Wayne Cantrell officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
