McMinnville resident and Huntsville, AL native Gordon Earl Partain, age 87, was born November 5, 1920 and died April 5, 2008 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired truck driver, a United States Army veteran of WWII and Korea and a member of the Living Word Fellowship, he was the son of the late Robert Stanley and Kittie Staggs Partain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and German Partain and one sister, Lorene Spelta. He was married July 27, 1940 to Lillian Partain of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and David Neal of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Christy Partain of Rock Island, TN; grandchildren, Lisa Farris, Rusty and Diane Bass, Gordon and Mary Bass, Becca Partain and Dylan Partain; great-grandchildren, Kisha and Ronnie Heady, Brooke Bass, Amber Honeycutt, Jacob Raper and Parker Bass; great-great-grandchildren, Genesis Mitchell and R.J. Heady; brother, Maurice Partain of Nashville, TN; step-grandchildren, Sherry and Tyler Bittner and Shelia and Anthony Brenneman; four step-great-granchildren, three step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 in High's Parlor with Jim Zlaten officiating. Burial was at Middle Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery in Pegram, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Living Word Fellowship Church.
