Orpha Ople Woodlee POWELL

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Orpha Ople Woodlee Powell, age 94, was born February 13, 1914 and died November 24, 2008 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Beecher and Fannie Nunley Woodlee. She was married July 4, 1938 to Jewell Haston Powell who preceded her in death October 16, 1992. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Orva "Buck" Powell and twelve brothers and sisters. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ella and David Wanamaker of McMinnville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Vicky Powell, Troy and Tamisha Fults, Tambitha and Colon Knight and Lori and Clay Cantrell all of McMinnville and April and Brad Fincher of Altamont, TN; ten great-grandchildren, Dillon, Cody, J.W., Britny, DeRae, Ashlynn, MaKayla, Wesley, Randy and Abby; several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Ida Barlow of Murfreesboro, TN and Clara P'Pool of Nashville, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in High's Chapel with Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial followed in the Armstrong Cemetery.
