Evelyn Patricia SIMERLY

McMinnville resident and Blount Co., TN native Evelyn Patricia Simerly, age 66, was born September 22, 1941 and died February 12, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness. A retired employee of Carrier and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Martha Tipton Sparks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, J.D. Sparks and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Lester Simerly. She was married December 21, 1957 to Donald Brown Simerly of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children and their spouses, Kimberly Dawn and David Sykes, Jeffery L. Simerly and Jamie and Stephanie Simerly all of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Dustin Lawson, Roger L. Lafever, Tony Anderson, Jeffery Simerly and Chelsey Simerly all of McMinnville; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Bailey Lafever and Brooke Alene Anderson both of McMinnville; two sisters, Unav Reaves and friend, Tony Cable of Maryville, TN and Betty Drinnon of Maryville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, R.L. and Shelby Sparks of Maryville, TN; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sparks of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee Roy and Sue Simerly of Quebeck, TN and Wayne and Eleanor Simerly of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 in High's Chapel with Jeff Cripps officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
