McMinnville resident and Warren County native George Bethel Simons, age 77, was born March 24, 1930 and died March 10, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was retired from the amusement business, a United States Army veteran of Korea, a life member of V.F.W. Post 5064 and a member of the Church of God. He was the son of the late George Washington and Willie Mai Rowland Simons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Simons Lemons. He is survived by his life partner, Gladys Pike of McMinnville; three children and their spouses, William W. "Wil" Simons and Jerry W. "Skip" and Janine McBee Simons both of Doyle, TN and Anita and Terry Nunley of McMinnville; son-in-law, Jeff Lemons of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Dink Simons and Kendra Simons both of Doyle, TN and Rachel Gauger of McMinnville; granddaughter-in-law, Trish Bain of Doyle, TN; two sisters and brother-in-law, Thelma Duncan and Betty and Johnny Brown both of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Jo Simons of Indianapolis, IN; step-brother, Johnny Ray Simons of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in High's Chapel with Rex Boles officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery with full military honors administered by the V.F.W. Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
