J.P. STANLEY

June 1, 1918 — February 28, 2008

McMinnville resident and Warren County native J.P. Stanley, age 89, was born June 1, 1918 and died February 28, 2008 at White County Community Hospital following an extended illness. A farmer, a United States Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Howard and Inez Turner Stanley. He was married to Corda Roberts Stanley who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, W.T. and Dickey Stanley and two sisters, Evelyn Melton and Nedra Dickson. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sarah Stanley of McMinnville; daughter, Norma Jean Judkins of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Carol Hobbs, Donna Gillentine, Connie Bell, Lucinda Whittenburg, Euclid Stanley and Rene Henderson; twelve great-grandchildren, Ben, Brad and Amy Hobbs, Alex Bell, Justin Hartman, Amelia, Robert and Andrew Gillentine, Daniel McTaggart, Jessica Adame, Printis Whittenburg and C.J. Henderson; two brothers, James Stanley of Smithville, TN and Lindon Stanley of Nashville, TN and brother-in-law, Horace Melton of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 in High's Chapel with Jonathan Stubblefield officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
