Clarence Rossville WEST

McMinnville resident and DeKalb County, TN native Clarence Rossville West, age 78, was born April 8, 1930 and died May 24, 2008 at Erlanger North in Chattanooga, TN following a brief illness. A nurseryman with Boyd Brothers nursery, United States Army veteran of Korea, Army National Guard retiree and member of Newtown The Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Tillmon Powell and Martha Della Cope West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Andy Roberts and Toy, Charlie, Rexie, Titus, Shelton, Albert and Amos West and two sisters, Lola France and Gracie Arnold. He was married September 17, 1948 to Aline Bost West of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Stubblefield and Mary and Eddie "Buddy" Reed both of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Amanda Pepper and husband, Chris, Matthew Ross Stubblefield, Eddie Lee Reed, III and Benjamin West Reed all of McMinnville; honorary granddaughters, Tonya Teike, Lindsey Barrett and Kayla Appalsammy all of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in High's Chapel with Dwight Knowles, Larry Stubblefield and Douglas Bost officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
