McMinnville resident and Toccoa, GA native Jewel Young, age 87, was born November 6, 1920 and died August 24, 2008 at DeKalb Community Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired employee of Levi's and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Etta Yearwood Edmonds. She was married in 1943 to Firman Edward Young who preceded her in death January 14, 1999. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ed Young. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jean Young of Billings, MT; two daughters and son-in-law, Janice and Jerry Womack and Joan Bozeman both of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Wilma Jean Young of McMinnville; grandchildren, Regina and Jeff Matheny of Rock Island, TN, Sam and Felicia Young, Jeremy and Jennifer Womack and Wesley and Jamie Womack all of McMinnville, Scott Young of Dandridge, TN; Melissa and Phillip Chockley of Naples, Italy and Jacob and Jared Bozeman both of Spring Hill, TN; nine great-grandchildren (one additional on the way) and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in High's Chapel with family members officiating. Burial followed in the Old Bybee Cemetery.
