Knoxville, TN resident and Lamar County, TX native Dorothy Roland Bryant, age 96, died April 16, 2009 at Shannondale Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN following a brief illness. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the McMinnville Garden Club, the Daughters of the Confederacy, The Questers and the Eastern Star. She was retired from the antique business and in her younger years, she was a congressional secretary for Senator Albert Gore, Sr. She was the daughter of the late James Hal and Carline Sadler Roland. In addition to her parent, she is preceded in death by sister, Ruth Roland Brothers. She is survived by husband, James Haskell Bryant of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Carline C. Bryant of Knoxville, TN; son-in-law, Frederick D. Dickey of Knoxville, TN. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 in High's Chapel with Bob Case officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
