McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native James Howard Caldwell, age 72, was born June 16, 1937 and died July 13, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness. A retired nursery worker and member of the Madison Street Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Gusie Howard and Delma Nadine Rackley Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Beaty; brothers, Edgar Levi Caldwell, Billy Wayne Caldwell and George Arlen Caldwell; half-brother, George Baxter Caldwell and half-sister, Earlene Fisher. He was married December 10, 1997 to Lois Lemons Caldwell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Geneva Caldwell and Jennifer Caldwell; two step-daughters, Shannon Anderson of McMinnville and Angela Holland of Morrison, TN; three grandchildren, Hannah, Samantha and Nathan Nunley; six sisters, Mary Magalene Spry, Juanita Tripp and Helen Joyce Hillis all of Elkhart, IN, Wilma Jean Simmons and Mildred Louise Simmons both of Manchester, TN and Josephine Lee Vanatta of Smithville, TN; brother, Kenneth Wayne Caldwell of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 in High's Chapel with Roland Sharp officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
