Martha Ann GILLESPIE

McMinnville resident and Gadsden, AL native Martha Ann Gillespie, age 64, was born October 15, 1944 and died January 31, 2009 at her residence following a three-year illness. A homemaker and member of Christ United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Ila Mae Sauls Ashley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Brenner, Jr. and Dean Gillespie, Jr. and brother, Robert Ashley. She was married February 5, 1977 to Dean I. Gillespie, Sr. of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Rick) Darnell of Orange, CA; two sons, Gerry Brenner of Oxford, MD and John Daniel (Jessica) Gillespie of McMinnville; two step-daughters, Anngela Faith "Bunny" (Wade) Sugg of Franklin, TN, Catherine Hope "Kitty" (Michael) Young of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Benjamin Brenner, William Dean, Lily Gabriel and John Daniel Gillespie, Jr.; step-grandchildren, William Wade and Andrew Sugg; brother, William Ashley, Jr. of Scottsboro, AL and step-mother-in-law, Chloe Gillespie of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Carrigan officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
