Mildred Lee Clendenon HILLIS

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Mildred Lee Clendenon Hillis, age 88, was born September 17, 1921 and died December 30, 2009 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late James Newton and Margaret Jeanetta Bouldin Clendenon. She was married to Melvin Hillis who preceded her in death November 14, 1985. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Hillis; grandson, Chuckie Thaxton and two brothers, Lannie and Eston Clendenon. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Joyce and Mase Rackley of the Rocky River Community, Faylene Timbs of Murfreesboro, TN, Sandra and Jerry Wilson of McMinnville and Bobby Dwain Hillis of Woodbury, TN; eleven grandchildren; Cindy Meadows, Amy Hillis, Allison Hillis and Haley Hillis all of Chattanooga, TN, Tyler Hillis of Oak Ridge, TN, Trence Thaxton and Brandy Kries of the Rocky River Community, Valerie Mangum, Janet Nunley and Shawn Wilson all of McMinnville and Seth Timbs of Nashville, TN; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 in High's Chapel with Danny Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory.
