McMinnville resident and Warren County native English Hobbs, age 87, was born December 16, 1921 and died March 2, 2009. A retired employee of Magnetek Century Electric, a United States Army veteran of WWII and a member of East End Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Tom and Marvin Myers Hobbs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clifton, Sidney and Emmet Hobbs; half-brother, Byron Hobbs; sisters, Ocie Priest and Hollie Hobbs and several siblings who died in infancy. He is survived by wife, Geneva Hobbs of McMinnville; son, Waymon English Hobbs and wife Carol of McMinnville; daughter, Theresa Ann Durham and husband Jim of McMinnville; three granddaughters and their spouses, Chanda and John Lanier of Nashville, TN, Andrea and Cory Hobbs of McMinnville and Kristen and Alan Elrod of McMinnville; four great-grandchildren, Ben and Ivy Elrod, Blayton Hobbs and Jesse Lanier and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in High's Chapel with Jim Boyd and Garland Robinson officiating. Burial followed in the Mt.
