McMinnville resident and Warren County native Elizabeth Thompson Elkins Hoover, age 69, was born June 2, 1939 and died March 27, 2009 at River Park Hospital following a brief illness. She was a longtime Warren County School Teacher, longtime treasurer and member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, member of Lt. James Shepherd Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of Retired Teachers Association, founding member of Savage Gulf Preservation League, graduate of Vanderbilt University, member of Phi Beta Kappa, member of AOTT, volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Master Gardener and she loved gardening, wildflower hikes and reading. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Eskridge and Emma Thompson Henderson Elkins. She was married to Fred L. Hoover, Jr. of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred L. Hoover, III and Leslie of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Hoover Kirby and Robert of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Sarah, Cade and Luke Hoover and Lake, Rayah and Isabel Kirby; godson, Trevor Galligan; goddaughter, Eliza Robinson; sister, Rachel Bradford Elkins Killebrew; nephew, Winston Denton, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth; great-niece, Katherine Denton; great-nephew, Winston Denton, III and first cousin, Sally Elkins Flinn. A graveside service and interment was held at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Viola Cemetery with Clark Baker officiating.
