SR., Billy Eugene LANCE

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Billy Eugene Lance, Sr., age 73, was born November 22, 1936 and died November 24, 2009 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired fireman with McMinnville Fire Department, United States Navy veteran and member of East End Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Bill Lance and Ada Lois Campbell Lance Hensley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth "Snake" Lance. He was married December 27, 1956 to Helen Hillis Lance of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Bo and Julie Lance and Debra and Bryan Tate both of McMinnville and Billy E. Lance, Jr. of Sequatchie County, TN; three grandchildren, Geoffrey Tate and Chelsea Lance both of McMinnville and Trent Lance of Knoxville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 in High's Chapel with Vernon Joines and Kevin Key officiating. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or Sunny Day Adult Services c/o High Funeral Home.
