McMinnville resident and Warren County, TN native Shirley Geneva Manus, age 71, was born April 19, 1938 and died May 2, 2009 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A homemaker and a member of the Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Frank Cheatham and Tennie Mae Davis Hillis. She was married to George Huston Manus who preceded her in death in 2004. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Georgia Garmon, Enzie George, Gracie Hillis, Sarah Southard and Mary Etta Hines, brothers, James, F.C. "Buddy", Marlin and Lewis Hillis and brother-in-law, Frank Hines. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gene and Wilma Manus of Beersheba Springs, TN and Susan and Tom Foster of Hillsboro, TN; granddaughter and spouse, Amy and Darin Cordell of Christiana, TN; grandson, Thomas Foster of Hillsboro, TN; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Beth" Nelson and Eli Locke; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Billy Minton of Campaign, TN and Edna Ledbetter of Centertown, TN; sister-in-law, Nancy Robertson of Lavergne, TN; two aunts; nieces, nephews, cousins and special great-nephews, Justin and Matthew Barnes of McMinnville. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in High's Chapel with David F. Daugherty officiating. Burial followed in the Brickhouse Rowland Station Cemetery.
