McMinnville resident and Warren County native Thomas Earl Milstead, age 79, was born November 30, 1929 and died March 29, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. An employee of Warren County Nursery, a United States Army veteran of Korea and a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Claude and Lena Cunningham Milstead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eona York Milstead; four sisters, Lee Milstead, Alma Milstead, Lorene Milstead and Irene Barnes and three brothers, Bill, Alton & George Milstead. He was married May 26, 1982 to Edna Shockley Milstead of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Randall & Juan Milstead and Kevin Milstead both of McMinnville; four step-children and their spouses, William and Arlene Shockley, Angela and Johnny Bouldin, Jereme Shockley and Tara and Kelly Dishman all of Spencer, TN; three grandchildren, Kristy Milstead, Randy Milstead and Brandon Milstead; two great-grandchildren, Kami Roberson and Kyleigh Milstead; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, James and Sarah Milstead of the Irving College Community; special niece, Valerie Denny; special nephew, Russell Milstead and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in High's Chapel with Vernon Joines officiating. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery.
