George Reed MORRIS

Anderson, SC resident (formerly of Morrison, TN) and Ocheltree, KS native George Reed Morris, age 87, was born May 6, 1922 and died August 22, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired United States Air Force veteran of WWII and Korea and member of the McMinnville First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, he was the son of the late Glenn Reed and Helen Edna Weir Morris. He was retired from Carrier Corporation, a Mason and member of the VFW and American Legion. Mr. Morris was a charter member of Morrison Ruritan, past zone governor of Ruritan National and member of the Warren County School Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Madelyn McGonagle. He was married May 14, 1944 to Winnie Pearson Morris of Anderson, SC. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Linda Morris and Keith and Susan Morris both of Chattanooga, TN and Charles and Jane Morris of Anderson, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine and Donald Miller of Morrison, TN; grandchildren and their spouses, Angela Morris, Charley Morris, Sam and Bobbie Morris, James Morris, Brandon and Laura Miller and Kathy and Barton Bailey; great-grandchildren, Katelynn Morris and Silas Miller and two sisters, Ann Snow of Paola, KS and Catherine Morris of Springfield, MO. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in High's Chapel with Andy Gay and Stacey Cowan officiating. Burial followed in the Morrison Cemetery.
