Silas Dillon OAKLEY

McMinnville resident and Mattoon, IL native Silas Dillon Oakley, age 20, was born July 8, 1988 and died May 24, 2009 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A crew member at Burger King, he was the son of Joyce Cherry of McMinnville and Randall Oakley of Manchester, TN. Silas was a member of the Coffee County High School graduating class of 2006 where he was a member of ROTC, French Club and the Drama Club. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Oakley and maternal grandparents, Rex Metzler and Ruth Lemons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-father, Gary Cherry of McMinnville; step-mother, Fawn Oakley of Manchester, TN; sister, Shelly Oakley of Lynchburg, TN; brother-in-law, Patrick Maynard of Lynchburg, TN; step-brothers, Daniel Baxter of Manchester, TN and Jared Cherry of Campaign, TN; step-sister, Lynette Hawkins of North Dakota; paternal grandmother, Patricia Koester of Ashmore, IL; nephews, Isaiah and Aidan Ralston of Lynchburg, TN, Bryan Hawkins of North Dakota and Ethan Cherry of Campaign, TN; maternal step-grandfather, Herman Lemons of Manchester, TN; maternal step-great-grandmother, Thelma Lemons of Manchester, TN and special friends, Mat Elder and Carly Powers. Many other family members and friends survive. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Campaign Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Vernon Caruthers officiating. Burial followed in the Over On The Hill Cemetery in Campaign, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
