McMinnville resident and Coffee County, TN native James Alvin Pegg, age 87, was born July 1, 1921 and died May 6, 2009 at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness. A retired Minister, a United States Army veteran of W.W.II and a member of the Mt. Leo Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Arville and Florence Stone Pegg. In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alta Inez Pegg, four brothers, Ed, Junior, J. R. and Elmer Pegg, two sisters, Clara Stubblefield and Hattie Austin and one grandson, Michael Pegg. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Skip and Merrilyn Pegg of McMinnville and Larry Pegg of McMinnville; grandchildren, Chris Pegg, Nelson Pegg, Terry Slatton, Tonya Bell, Kim Hillis, Sunshine Cook, Kristie Pegg and Stephanie Racine; eleven great-grandchildren, Makayla Cook, Kyra and Alex Hillis, McKenzie and Adam Pistole, Cameron and Austin Carden, Ryan Bell, Lauren Nicole Pegg, Colby Ryan Pegg and Tyler Slatton; great-great-grandson, Brandon Gage Pegg; brother, Gene Pegg of McMinnville; two Brothers-in-law, Frank Roberts and Charles and Sue Roberts all of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Faye Mix of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 in High's Chapel with Lane Dix and R. L. Rigney officiating. Burial followed in the Armstrong Cemetery with full military honors administered by the V.F.W. Post 5064 and the American Legion Post 173.
