Mary Evelyn RUSSELL

McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Mary Evelyn Russell, age 72, was born November 19, 1936 and died August 24, 2009 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN following a sudden illness. A retired employee of Oster Corporation and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Shockley Mayes. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Johnny Solomon of the Rocky River Community; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Regina Russell of the Rocky River Community; six grandchildren and their spouses, Beth and Jeremy Duggin, Wes Solomon, Amanda and Eric Simmons, Whitney and Jared Arnold, Stephanie and Abe Lewis and Bryan and Misty King; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Joyce Mayes of Shelbyville, TN, Jim and Delma Mayes of Alabama and Charles and Lynette Mayes of Spencer, TN; two sisters and brother-in-law, Thelma Delong of Spencer, TN and Dorothy and John David Wilson of Sparta, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 in High's Chapel with Haskell Myers and Roy Terry officiating. Burial followed in the Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crain Hill Cemetery Fund c/o High Funeral Home.
