Thelma Leona Green SMITH

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Thelma Leona Green Smith, age 86, was born February 5, 1923 and died March 10, 2009 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home. A homemaker and member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey and Mary Miranda McCormick Green. She was married June 26, 1942 to Edward Price Smith of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ron and Barbara Smith of Murfreesboro, TN and Jim and Dr. Jackie Smith of McMinnville. four grandchildren and their spouses, Lt. Col. Stephen G. and Laura Smith of Ft. Stewart, GA, Sandra Gail and Lee Curtis of McMinnville, Karen Denise and Brian Killen of Smyrna, TN and Jeffrey Randall and Susan Smith of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Cody and Sydney Smith, Dillon and Katie Killen, Tia, Rylan, Kreed, McKinlee, Bralee and Bren Curtis, Tori Smith, Brittany (Michael) Jones, Micha Gentry, Taylor Smith and Kelsey and Daniel Aune; two great-great-grandchildren, Emmalee Smith and Kylan Jones; brother, Johnny Green of Ohio; two sisters and brother-in-law, Eva Hyder of Nashville, TN and Zada and Gordon Mitchell of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Smyrna Church of Christ with Jonathan Stubblefield officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
