McMinnville resident and Warren County native William Nelson Stembridge, age 78, was born March 1, 1931 and died June 28, 2009 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. A retired mechanic with Burroughs-Ross-Colville and member of the Charles Creek Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Joe and Linnie Kirby Stembridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Taylor Stembridge and two sisters, Ella Crawley and Stella Boren. He was married April 26, 1950 to Evelyn Webb Stembridge of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Leonard Stembridge, Larry Stembridge, Donald Stembridge and Sandy Stembridge all of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Darrell Stembridge, Steve Stembridge, Savannah Stembridge and Stella Stembridge all of McMinnville; brother, Charlie Stembridge of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews and special cousin, Carlton Blair of Woodbury, TN. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Kirby Cemetery with Cecil Van Winkle and Darrell Cantrell officiating.
