McMinnville resident and Van Buren County, TN native Nellie Thomison, age 83, was born November 28, 1925 and died April 14, 2009 at NHC Healthcare following a five-month illness. A retired food service worker with Warren County School System and member of the Bybee Branch Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Linnie Hillis Groves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Haskel and Clyde Groves; sister, Emogene Groves Harvey and niece, Peggy Copeland. She was married July 1, 1943 to James M. Thomison of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Robert Kelsey of McMinnville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Regan and Jenny Kelsey of McMinnville and Valerie and Richard Wells of Algood, TN; five great-grandchildren, Walker and Peyton Kelsey of McMinnville and Kaitlin Delong and Charis and Douglas Wells all of Algood, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Daisy Groves of McMinnville; brothers-in-law, Ray and Glenn Thomison of McMinnville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce Rowland, Linda and Ray Hale and Betty and Jimmy DeArmond all of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 in High's Chapel with Tony Lawrence and Coy Hathcock officiating. Burial followed in the White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
