Thomas ARGO

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Thomas Argo, age 79, was born April 11, 1930 and died January 5, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of Powermatic, member of United Steel Workers and member of McMinnville First Baptist Church, he was the son of the late H.T. and Orpha Maynard Argo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Murphy and A.B. Argo and sister, Bonnie Phillips. He was married September 8, 1951 to Evelyn Delon Argo of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Tommye and Kenneth Sherrill, Marsha and Ricky Rogers and Amye and Danny Langford all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and John Duke, Marney Sherrill, John-Thomas Argo Sherrill, Sally Rogers and friend, Jake Canull, Glenn Argo Rogers, Cole and Madesta Langford and Andrew Argo Langford; three great-grandchildren, Calijah Langford, Scottie Duke and Chelsie Duke; three brothers, Hal Argo and Wayford Argo both of Spencer, TN and H.T. Argo, Jr. of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 in High's Chapel. Burial followed in the Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
