Charlie Ray BARKS

Green Hill Community resident and DeKalb County, TN native Charlie Ray Barks, age 66, was born September 17, 1943 and died March 10, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A retired employee of Tennsmith and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Matthew and Clara Belle Clemons Barks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Barks Scott; five brothers, Homer, Tommy, Ed, Hubert and Jewel Barks and sister, Ada Barks. He was married December 17, 1965 to Linda Matthews Barks of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one grandson, David Scott of the Green Hill Community; brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Betty Barks of McMinnville; sister, Sally Thomas of McMinnville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and James Rice of the Green Hill Community, Shirley and Gary Pryor of Cookeville, TN and Dessie Barks of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment was held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Smyrna Cemetery with Mason Black officiating.
