McMinnville resident and Warren County native James Edward "Barney" Barnes, age 57, was born November 2, 1952 and died June 30, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired employee of A.O. Smith and member of Mt. Leo Church of Christ, he was the son of Willie Bouldin Barnes of McMinnville and the late James Benjamin Barnes. He was married June 19, 1977 to Janie L. Barnes of McMinnville. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Jamie and Heath Griffith, Tammy and Bob Ried, Jackie Holland Hawkins, Bud Holland and Chris Holland all of McMinnville and Emily and Don Crisp of Murfreesboro, TN; eleven grandchildren, Alicia, Nick, Matt, Ashley, Josh, Kristi, Christopher, Little Jack, Donovan, Tailynn and Bronson; nine great-grandchildren, Hailey, Brooke, Amber, Pacey, Dawsen, Ashlin and Landin, Brayden "Peanut" and Breez; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Ron Glasener, Katie and Mikey Weatherspoon and Hilda and Mike Duke all of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Phyllis Barnes of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Mary Cantrell and Kathy Hudson and husband Jerry both of McMinnville, Juanita Jones of Nashville, TN and Mary Ellen Rollins of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 in High's Chapel with Steven Hillis and Jerry Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the New Bon Air Cemetery in White County, TN.
