Rowena Newby BOYD

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Rowena Newby Boyd, age 90, was born December 20, 1919 and died December 2, 2010 at her residence. A clothing designer, seamstress and homemaker, she was the daughter of the late Sam Henderson and Bertha Newby and member of the Pentecostal Church. She was married to Charles E. Boyd who preceded her in death in 1990. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lowrie Turner and Jim Robinson and two brothers, G.W. Newby and Clayburn Robinson. She is survived by three brothers and sister-in-law, Rudolph Newby of Tullahoma, TN and Randolph and Helen Newby and J. Paul Newby both of McMinnville; child in her heart, Tommy Cartwright of LaVergne, TN; sister-in-law, Oma Lee Holder of the Centertown Community and several nieces and nephews. Interment was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Bethlehem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice c/o High's.
