Thelma Imogene BYARS

McMinnville resident and Mangum, OK native Thelma Imogene Byars, age 90, was born June 1, 1920 and died December 8, 2010 at Alive Hospice @ St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Bethany Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Nannie Maie Jones Turner. She was married August 3, 1940 to Frank G. Byars who preceded her in death February 7, 2004. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell and Sam Turner, Jr. Mrs. Byars is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Martha Byars of McMinnville; grandchildren, Tony, Gary, Terry, Mark, Chris, Jon and Chance Byars and Rebecca Byars Smith; twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and sister, Joyce Wallace of Murfreesboro, TN. Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010 in High's Chapel with Marion West officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
