McMinnville resident and Bridgeport, AL native John Hop Cox, age 85, was born May 7, 1925 and died November 16, 2010 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following a brief illness. A retired educator with Warren County School System, retired employee of Caney Fork Electric Co-Op, United States Army veteran of WWII and member of First United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Jessie and Pearl Ballard Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Katherine, Charles, Robert Dean and Jessie. He was married January 10, 1947 to Katherine Lawhenore Cox of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Latisha Cox of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Savannah Cox both of McMinnville; sister, Patricia Hambrick of Bridgeport, AL and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 in High's Chapel with Bob Case and John Vaughan officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors administered by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. Memorial contributions may be made to or .
