McMinnville resident and Detroit, MI native Benjamin Franklin Davis, Jr., age 81, was born August 7, 1929 and died September 25, 2010 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. Ben grew up in Florida and graduated from Fletcher High School and was in the United States Air Force where he served in Saudi Arabia during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX in 1955. Ben was an accountant and worked for several CPA firms and with Chrysler Corporation. Ben was Audit Manager with Chrysler for thirteen years. He bought his own accounting firm in Temple, TX in 1977. Ben was always active in the Baptist Churches. He was ordained as Deacon at Beacon Hill Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL, Ewing Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ and Live Oak Baptist Church in Gatesville, TX. Ben loved the Lord and taught Sunday school since he was in his twenties. He was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Gertrude Cave Davis, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Wayne Davis. He was married July 29, 1950 to Margaret K. Jones Davis of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Benjamin Franklin "Trey" Davis, III of Taylor, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Tom Ward of McMinnville and Leslie and Victor Babecki of Hamilton, NJ; six grandchildren and their spouses, Charlie and Miranda Furbee, Brent and Maria Davis, Justin Furbee, Michael and Michelle Babecki, Laura and Mike Puzdrak and Jana and Caleb Kirchoff; eight great-grandchildren, Robert Lee, Ethan and Mason Davis, Cameron and Katie Beth Furbee, Madison and Michael Benjamin Babecki and Ava Puzdrak; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Stermon of Florida and Rickie and Bill Pearce of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in High's Chapel with John May officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
