Velma ECKERT

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Velma Eckert, age 87, was born October 24, 1922 and died July 14, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness. The owner of Eckert's Boarding Home and member of First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late John O. and Maggie Rollings Brown. She was married to M.B. Eckert who preceded her in death December 15, 1977. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mamie Jones and brother, Johnny Brown. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Young of McMinnville and Virginia Allen of Indianapolis, IN; son, Johnny R. Simons of Woodbury, TN; grandson, Ricky McCarver of Morrison, TN; five other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Smith of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Morrison Cemetery with Archie Alread and Donnie Crowe officiating.
