McMinnville resident and Cannon County, TN native Geneva Kathleen Hayes Gentry, age 90, was born January 25, 1920 and died September 21, 2010 at her residence following a short illness. A homemaker, long-time employee of the Elk's Club in Titusville, FL and member of the Bratcher's Crossroads Free Methodist Church she was the daughter of the late Isaac Lee and Dollie Sadler Hayes. She was married December 13, 1936 to John Virgil Gentry who preceded her in death February 2, 2001. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Steve Van Hoose; sisters, Lucille Kennedy, Josie Swanger, Callie Stacy, Nola Spry, Ellen Lewis and Bertha Cawthorn; brothers, Wilbur, Carman, Carl and Houston Hayes and four infant siblings. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Shelby and Paul Churchwell of Bradyville, TN and Barbara Kaelin of McMinnville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and John O'Connor of Morrison, TN, Carma and Tom Graham of Mims, FL, Brian Van Hoose of Eustis, FL, Barry Van Hoose of Rockwood, TN and Jeff and Patricia Van Hoose of Lenoir City, TN; thirteen great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ollen Hayes of McMinnville and Leonard Hayes of Sparta, TN; sister, Virginia Bowles of Muncie, IN and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 in High's Chapel with Eddie Ware officiating. Burial followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Coffee County, TN.
