McMinnville resident and Davidson County, TN native Floyd Ulysses Hardcastle, age 92, was born April 22, 1918 and died July 22, 2010 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness. A retired Assistant Superintendent with McMinnville Electric System and United States Army veteran of WWII, he was the son of the late Benjamin Roy and Veta Mai Vanhooser Hardcastle. Mr. Hardcastle was a member of the Central Church of Christ where he was a former deacon and elder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Martin, Melba Davis and Roy Mai Warren. He was married March 4, 1951 to Patsy Murphy Hardcastle of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Hardcastle and Betty and Tom Wood both of McMinnville; son, Floyd Hardcastle, Jr. of McMinnville; grandson, Adam Wood of McMinnville; brother, Brown Hardcastle of McMinnville; two sisters, Dorothy Cook of McMinnville and Elsie Harris of Manchester, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 in High's Chapel with Julian Goodpaster officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery with full military honors to be administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
