JR., R.G. MARTIN

McMinnville resident and Warren County native R.G. Martin, Jr., age 82, was born September 17, 1927 and died June 13, 2010 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A clothing salesman with King's Department Store and Kelly's, he was the son of the late Ransom Gwyn and Nannie Elizabeth McVey Martin, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lila Hancock, Hortense Simmons, Katherine Sain and Wilma Beam and two brothers, Carson and Hugh Martin. He was married to Janie Grizzle Martin of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael G. Martin of Arlington, VA; daughter, Harriett Martin of Dallas, TX; grandsons, Jimmy Barker and Todd Barker (Amy Eaton) both of McMinnville and Travis Barker (Carly) of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Gracie Barker and Brook Grissom; brother, George G. Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and sister, Hattie Lou Wood of Woodbury, TN. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in High's Chapel with Kelly Marlowe and Ricky Minton officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. View Cemetery.
