Marie ROBERTS

McMinnville resident and Holly Pond, AL native Marie Roberts, age 88, was born October 12, 1921 and died September 12, 2010 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Westside Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late General Lee and Malissa Idella Lambert Mooney. She was married October 11, 1941 to John Baptist Roberts who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Ozone Roberts; brothers and sisters, Onnie Owens, Onie Owens, Lottie Frymire, Edgar "Pete" Mooney, Claudie Hopgood, Lonnie Mooney, Dorthina Mooney and Austin Eugene Mooney and half sisters, Annaelle Thomas and Mary Frances Mooney. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Johnny Atnip of McMinnville and Lucille and Larry Grenter of Bentonville, AR; six grandchildren, Becky Stubbe (Scott) of Smithville, TN, Jerry Ray Roberts of Huntsville, AL, Jimmy Roberts (Debbie) and Randy Roberts (Beverly) both of McMinnville, Amanda Wiggans (Charlie) of Springdale, AR and John Robert Atnip of Murfreesboro, TN; six great-grandchildren, Danielle Roberts of Huntsville, AL, Brandy (T.J.) Jarvis, Joshua Roberts, Lee Roberts and Jamie Roberts all of McMinnville and Jasmine Wiggans of Springdale, AR; two sisters, Rozella Snow of Huntsville, AL and Estell Whitehead of Guntersville, AL; three half-sisters, Clora Nell Thomas, Billie Jean Thomas and Christine Thompson all of Florida; brother-in-law, George Roberts, Sr. of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Pauline "Polly" Munson of Marcus Hook, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in High's Chapel with Johnny Atnip officiating. Burial followed in the Shellsford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Nursing Home Christmas both c/o High's.
